Are you ready to put your underground cable skills to work across a mix of planned projects, fault responses, and network upgrades? As a Cable Jointer at Waipā Networks, you’ll play a hands-on role keeping the power flowing safely and reliably for our community.
You’ll work across a range of underground LV and HV cable projects, from new subdivisions to commercial and industrial sites. Your skills in jointing, termination, testing and maintenance will have a direct impact on network reliability and day-to-day life across the Waipā region.

What the role involves
This is a practical, hands-on role where you’ll use your expertise to keep our underground networking running safely and reliably. You’ll:
· Carry out LV and HV cable jointing, terminations and associated connections
· Install underground cable systems for new developments and network upgrades
· Conduct cable testing, fault-finding, and repairs to restore power supply
· Carry out switching operations and maintain network assets
· Lead work parties and support the development of less experienced jointers
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry standards
· Record all work, materials, and test results accurately in our systems
· Take part in on-call rosters and after-hours emergency work if required.
About you
You’re a qualified and experienced Cable Jointer who takes pride in working safely, doing quality work and supporting your team. You’ll bring:
· EWRB registration and current practicing licence as a Cable Jointer
· Proven LV and HV cable jointing experience, including 11kV and 33kV systems
· Strong technical knowledge in underground distribution networks
· The ability to read and interpret network plans, drawings and switching schedules
· A practical, problem-solving mindset and strong teamwork skills
· High attention to detail and quality workmanship
· Physical fitness and confidence working outdoors and in confined spaces
· A solid understanding of health and safety requirements and safe work practices.
