The role:
You will be an important part of our Network Information team, working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Your job will include managing location-based data and making sure it is accurate. You will also help automate and integrate mobile applications.
You will work with different teams to include GIS solutions in our business processes, helping collect field data, providing technical support and helping develop GIS standards and best practices. Keeping up with GIS advancements and improving our GIS capabilities will be a key part of your role.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain GIS and asset data. This includes entering and editing data
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness through regular quality control checks
- Generate maps, charts and reports to visualise results and effectively communicating findings to internal customers
- Perform spatial analysis and modelling to address geographic challenges and generate actionable insights to achieve our business objectives
- Create and automate GIS tools, scripts and workflows, integrating ESRI mobile applications with Python and FME to improve operational efficiency
- Plan and execute field data collection activities using GPS/GNSS equipment and mobile mapping technologies, verifying and updating existing GIS data
- Manage and support the deployment of mobile apps to field personnel and provide technical on GIS-related issues, troubleshooting software, hardware, and data connectivity problems
- Work with other teams to integrate GIS solutions into the wider business and contribute to the development of our GIS standards and best practices.
About you:
You will have a tertiary qualification in GIS, Engineering, Geography, Surveying, IT, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in the GIS industry.
Your background includes significant experience in GIS analysis, ESRI technologies, visualisation, data transformations with FME and Python, and interpreting and maintaining as-built information in GIS. You’re accomplished in asset management, working with Enterprise GIS, and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
You have experience in using geospatial data to improve network performance, predict outages, and plan infrastructure. You are skilled in preparing and deploying mobile apps, as well as handling data collected in the field. This includes downloading, processing, and converting spatial data, as well as cleaning up and mapping the results.
Knowledge of the power industry and infrastructure is a plus, along with technical skills including Safe Software FME products, ESRI Geodatabases, the Utility Network model, and ArcGIS Pro.
